My friend has a 17yr. old autistic son who will be out of the school system next year. We are considering starting a sheltered workshop for higher functioning autistic adults. Our desire is to give meaningful and productive jobs to autistic adults in a safe environment. Their jobs would be manufacturing items for a retail store, organic gardening, etc. Do you have any advice for us on how to begin, where to get funding, and legal criteria for starting such a workshop? I know that is alot. Any guidance you could give us would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help.
